Is Hemorrhoid Banding Really Painless?

Hemorrhoids are a common problem among adults of all ages. They form when the blood vessels in the lower rectum are strained – causing an uncomfortable, and often painful, bulge of swollen tissue. Once formed, hemorrhoids rarely go away on their own, and over-the-counter treatments like ointments or wipes only temporarily relieve symptoms. That’s why so many people are turning to hemorrhoid banding to get rid of their hemorrhoids once and for all. But even with all the success stories of patients who have had little to no hemorrhoid banding pain, the procedure itself can seem a little intimidating for new patients.

Conventional Band Ligation vs The CRH O’Regan System

With conventional band ligation, many patients report experiencing hemorrhoid banding pain during treatment and for a couple days following the procedure. The CRH O’Regan System is an improvement on traditional banding and was designed to eliminate the painful aspects of the treatment while still completely removing the hemorrhoid tissue that’s causing the symptoms. For example, during the CRH O’Regan procedure, an experienced gastroenterologist will use a suction device rather than a metal clamp to gently pull the tissue in. Then, a small band is placed at the base of the hemorrhoid where no nerve endings are present. Patients rarely even need mild pain relievers (acetaminophen or ibuprofen) after the procedure and many go back to work the very same day! Gentle, quick, and yes, completely painless.

If you have symptoms of hemorrhoids, it’s important to research and compare treatments. Schedule a consultation with your local physician to learn more about hemorrhoid banding pain and discuss whether the CRH O’Regan System is the right treatment for you.
