If you decide to use ACV for hemorrhoids, there are several ways to apply it. For best results, apply apple cider vinegar to the affected area two to three times a day. After a few weeks, some patients report a noticeable reduction in their hemorrhoids’ size and milder symptoms. 

Please note that, when applied directly to hemorrhoids, the ACV’s acidity may cause a stinging sensation at first, but should subside after a few moments. Some patients report a stinging for a minute or two, followed by pain relief that can last a couple of hours. If you experience persistent discomfort, stop using ACV on the skin immediately.

Step 1: Mix 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar with 1/2 cup of water.

Step 2: Pour into a standard ice cube tray and freeze overnight.

Step 3: Use the apple cider vinegar ice cubes to ice the area three times a day. Be sure to wrap the ice cube in a soft cloth or paper towel.

While you may not want to swap out a prescription antibiotic for ACV the next time you have an infection, it can be comforting to know that a bottle of ACV in the pantry can help protect you against germs.
  • Can help you manage your weight: While ACV might not be the magic bullet to weight loss, some studies have suggested that adding it to your diet can help you reach your goals. One possible explanation is that vinegar can make you feel full, so you end up eating less than you usually would.
  • Can help lower blood sugar: ACV may help keep blood sugar levels in check, whether you have diabetes or not. While it isn’t a substitute for managing diabetes or reducing the amount of sugar or refined carbohydrates in your diet, it can be a tool to help control your blood sugar levels.

Potential Risks of Apple Cider Vinegar

  • Could lower blood sugar levels too much: Some studies have suggested that ACV can lower blood sugar levels too much in people with either type of diabetes. For that reason, it’s a good idea to speak with your doctor before you start taking ACV tonics.
  • Can irritate the stomach: ACV helps you feel full longer, but that can create an issue for some people. Additionally, since the vinegar is very acidic, drinking it undiluted can irritate the esophagus, causing similar symptoms to heartburn.
